It is the front door.</p><p>What matters is whether the organization behind the front door can explain what it does, route the right opportunities, preserve context, make decisions, follow through, and keep learning without forcing one person to hold the whole system together.</p><p>That is where a lot of organizations break.</p><h3><strong>Not because the mission is weak.</strong></h3><p>Because the infrastructure is.</p><h2><strong>May Reality Check: Memory Is Not Infrastructure</strong></h2><h4><strong>The operating layer underneath the work is now the risk surface.</strong></h4><p>AI is already inside daily operations.</p><p>AI agents are being adopted faster than oversight systems.</p><p>Regulators are moving toward documentation, classification, and proof.</p><p>Institutional memory failures are showing up in high-stakes environments.</p><p>Public launches expose whether an organization is ready to be understood.</p><p>This is not a technology story.</p><p>It is a systems story.</p><h2><strong>This Month&#8217;s Intelligence</strong></h2><h4><strong>AI is already inside the work.</strong></h4><p>Gallup polling reported by AP found that 12% of employed U.S. adults use AI daily at work, nearly one-quarter use it a few times a week, and roughly half use it at least a few times a year.</p><p>That means AI is already operating inside organizations before many leaders have named where it belongs, who owns it, or what happens when it affects a decision.</p><p><a href="https://apnews.com/article/4934bc61d039508db32bc49f85d63d99">Source</a></p><h4><strong>AI agents are moving faster than governance.</strong></h4><p>Deloitte&#8217;s State of AI in the Enterprise research, as reported by Times of India, found that 23% of surveyed companies are already using AI agents at least moderately, with projected adoption rising to 74% within two years. The same reporting notes that only about 21% report robust safety and oversight mechanisms.</p><p>The issue is not adoption.</p><p>The issue is that work is being handed to systems before organizations have built the controls around that work.</p><p><a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/technology/tech-news/deloitte-ai-institute-chief-on-ai-oversight-governing-ai-agents-is-tougher-because/articleshow/127574981.cms">Source</a></p><h4><strong>Regulators are asking for the paper trail.</strong></h4><p>The European Commission released draft guidelines for classifying high-risk AI systems under the EU AI Act and opened public consultation through June 23, 2026.</p><p>The direction is clear: governance is becoming classification, documentation, accountability, and proof.</p><p>Values statements will not be enough.</p><p><a href="https://www.itpro.com/business/policy-and-legislation/european-commission-opens-public-consultation-on-long-awaited-draft-for-high-risk-ai-guidelines">Source</a></p><h2><strong>The Signal: Organizations are not short on ambition. They are short on operating capacity.</strong></h2><p>That gap shows up everywhere: AI tools entering workflows without rules. Agents taking on work without mature oversight. Regulators asking for documentation that many organizations do not have. Risk information existing somewhere, but not becoming shared memory, owned action, or timely escalation.</p><p>This is why B. PM Consulting exists.</p><p>We help organizations build the systems underneath the work: strategy, governance, operations, stewardship, narrative, and decision architecture.</p><p>Because clarity is not a tagline.</p><p>Clarity is infrastructure.</p><h2><strong>Reintroducing B. PM Consulting</strong></h2><h4><strong>B. PM Consulting helps organizations turn complexity into operating clarity.</strong></h4><p>We work with founders, operators, nonprofit leaders, funds, and mission-driven institutions that are carrying serious work without enough structure underneath it.</p><p>Sometimes the problem is <strong>strategy</strong>. The organization has strong ideas, but no clear path from decision to execution.</p><p>Sometimes the problem is <strong>governance</strong>. Decisions are being made, but not documented. Ownership is assumed, but not assigned. Risk is visible, but not routed.</p><p>Sometimes the problem is <strong>stewardship</strong>. The organization has partners, funders, clients, donors, or community relationships, but no system for tracking context, commitments, follow-up, and trust.</p><p>Sometimes the problem is <strong>narrative</strong>. The work matters, but the message does not make it easy for the right people to understand, engage, hire, fund, sponsor, or partner.</p><p>Those are not separate problems.</p><p>They are symptoms of the same issue: the system underneath the work is too thin.</p><p>B. PM Consulting helps build that system.</p><h2><strong>Introducing BPM Brain</strong></h2><p>BPM Brain is the operating intelligence layer behind BPM Brands.</p><div class="callout-block" data-callout="true"><p><em>It preserves context. It routes work. It documents decisions. It turns meetings into tasks, tasks into artifacts, and artifacts into reusable infrastructure.</em></p></div><p>It keeps the work from disappearing into Slack, email, transcripts, screenshots, and memory.</p><p>BPM Brain was not built because we wanted another tool.</p><p>It was built because the old way does not hold.</p><p>Important work gets discussed.</p><p>Some of it gets assigned.</p><p>Less of it gets documented.</p><p>Even less becomes reusable.</p><p>Then the organization has to start over.</p><p>BPM Brain interrupts that cycle.</p><p>For B. PM Consulting, it is proof of practice. We built the operating system we needed. Now we use that discipline to help other organizations build the systems they need.</p><h2><strong>What Leaders Should Do Now</strong></h2><h3><strong>CEO / Board</strong></h3><p>Name the five workflows most dependent on founder or executive memory. Assign one owner, one documentation location, and one review cadence for each.</p><h3><strong>CMO / Brand</strong></h3><p>Walk through every public-facing pathway: website, newsletter, donation page, partner inquiry, speaking inquiry, and social CTA. If someone takes action, confirm who receives it and what happens next.</p><h3><strong>General Counsel / CCO</strong></h3><p>Identify where AI or automated tools are already being used. Document who authorized them, what data they touch, and what escalation path applies when outputs affect people.</p><h3><strong>Chief of Staff / Ops</strong></h3><p>Build a one-page operating map showing where decisions, tasks, contacts, campaign assets, meeting notes, and source-of-truth documents live. The gaps are the workplan.</p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!U2ca!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F13222bdc-d040-4294-902f-66a94d955358_2560x1440.png" data-component-name="Image2ToDOM"><div class="image2-inset"><picture><source type="image/webp" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!U2ca!,w_424,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F13222bdc-d040-4294-902f-66a94d955358_2560x1440.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!U2ca!,w_848,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F13222bdc-d040-4294-902f-66a94d955358_2560x1440.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!U2ca!,w_1272,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F13222bdc-d040-4294-902f-66a94d955358_2560x1440.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!U2ca!,w_1456,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F13222bdc-d040-4294-902f-66a94d955358_2560x1440.png 1456w" sizes="100vw"><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!U2ca!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F13222bdc-d040-4294-902f-66a94d955358_2560x1440.png" width="1456" height="819" data-attrs="{&quot;src&quot;:&quot;https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/13222bdc-d040-4294-902f-66a94d955358_2560x1440.png&quot;,&quot;srcNoWatermark&quot;:null,&quot;fullscreen&quot;:null,&quot;imageSize&quot;:null,&quot;height&quot;:819,&quot;width&quot;:1456,&quot;resizeWidth&quot;:null,&quot;bytes&quot;:125637,&quot;alt&quot;:null,&quot;title&quot;:null,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;image/png&quot;,&quot;href&quot;:null,&quot;belowTheFold&quot;:true,&quot;topImage&quot;:false,&quot;internalRedirect&quot;:&quot;https://blog.bpagelsminor.com/i/199634996?img=https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F13222bdc-d040-4294-902f-66a94d955358_2560x1440.png&quot;,&quot;isProcessing&quot;:false,&quot;align&quot;:null,&quot;offset&quot;:false}" class="sizing-normal" alt="" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!U2ca!,w_424,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F13222bdc-d040-4294-902f-66a94d955358_2560x1440.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!U2ca!,w_848,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F13222bdc-d040-4294-902f-66a94d955358_2560x1440.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!U2ca!,w_1272,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F13222bdc-d040-4294-902f-66a94d955358_2560x1440.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!U2ca!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F13222bdc-d040-4294-902f-66a94d955358_2560x1440.png 1456w" sizes="100vw" loading="lazy"></picture><div class="image-link-expand"><div class="pencraft pc-display-flex pc-gap-8 pc-reset"><button tabindex="0" type="button" class="pencraft pc-reset pencraft icon-container restack-image"><svg role="img" width="20" height="20" viewBox="0 0 20 20" fill="none" stroke-width="1.5" stroke="var(--color-fg-primary)" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><g><title></title><path d="M2.53001 7.81595C3.49179 4.73911 6.43281 2.5 9.91173 2.5C13.1684 2.5 15.9537 4.46214 17.0852 7.23684L17.6179 8.67647M17.6179 8.67647L18.5002 4.26471M17.6179 8.67647L13.6473 6.91176M17.4995 12.1841C16.5378 15.2609 13.5967 17.5 10.1178 17.5C6.86118 17.5 4.07589 15.5379 2.94432 12.7632L2.41165 11.3235M2.41165 11.3235L1.5293 15.7353M2.41165 11.3235L6.38224 13.0882"></path></g></svg></button><button tabindex="0" type="button" class="pencraft pc-reset pencraft icon-container view-image"><svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="20" height="20" viewBox="0 0 24 24" fill="none" stroke="currentColor" stroke-width="2" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" class="lucide lucide-maximize2 lucide-maximize-2"><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line></svg></button></div></div></div></a></figure></div><h2><strong>From B.&#8217;s Desk</strong></h2><p>We see the same failure pattern across organizations that otherwise have everything they need to win.</p><p>The thinking is strong. They are enforcing old requirements &#8212; harder, faster, and with less patience for organizations that arrived without documentation.</p><p>By January 2026, the Department of Government Efficiency had terminated 15,887 federal grants totaling approximately $49 billion &#8212; not future appropriations, but grants already awarded, already staffed, already mid-execution. The $236 billion in annual federal clawback exposure documented by the GAO did not create new standards. What changed is the enforcement posture &#8212; and it is now uniform across federal agencies, the IRS, state funders, and private philanthropy simultaneously.</p><p>For Executive Directors and the boards that fund them, the question is no longer whether governance infrastructure matters. Bad data doesn&#8217;t just slow systems down &#8212; it breaks them over time. When governance documentation is scattered, when decision authority is unclear, when compliance ownership is assumed instead of named, the entire accountability structure corrodes from the foundation.</p><p>His work sits at the intersection of research, systems, and execution &#8212; ensuring that the information driving capital, relationships, and operations is accurate, aligned, and usable.
